We love slow ‘mo doves

So we all know that I work in online advertising. This doesn’t mean that I get to watch YouTube all day, but at least I don’t feel bad when I do. Today’s latest video is curtisy of Jodi.

Pretty Wonderful, and will make your day:

We don’t reinvent the wheel

Im on Twitter. Do you know what Twitter is? Well maybe like half of you do. So here is my 40,000 view explanation.

Twitter is like a mass text message you can send out to your followers. It is similar to facebook in the way that these updates are like status’. It is not similar to facebook because you can be friends with celebrities. For example, I’m following Larry King, and Rainn WilsonJarad is following Kevin Spacey and Dane Cook, and who’s NOT following Ashton and Demi (well I’m not actually, but a lot of people do!).

Anywhoo, when I update twitter I usually call my followers “Twitter Kids”. I thought it was a cute endearing way to say “hello” to my plethora of followers! Unfortunately, I was reading Come to Find Out (John’s blog) and was totally flabbergasted. He calls all of us “INTER kids”!

I have stolen someones mass name! I am ashamed and saddened by my most recent discovery. How dare I do that to a fellow blogger and trusted friend. I approached John about it, and he said it was okay, I can use it! In fact he thinks he stole it from someone– the circle continues…

We Love People Watching at the Gym

May 27, 2009 by Gillian

My friend Julia is getting married in a year. Well she’s getting married in a year from Friday, but close enough. She, like every bride in America goes on a  gym binge to prep. I have binge with her, but we will see how BUFF she gets and how wimpy I get…its just the way my life is. Sad I know.

So anyway, every Tuesday Julia and I go to spin class with Courtney (who is taking the summer off  BTW, sucks!). The past two weeks there has been a man on the tread mill who I can’t take my eyes off of.  Not cause hes hot, I have never seen his face, but because he wears really tight spandex pants with a running top. You know the ones that are like beaters but lighter.

 he wears this:

Buzz top

Over this:

Buzz pants

So basically this is his uniform, buzz is fearless in his under armour of armor. His stature helps too. Hes about 6′5″ and built, but not Guido built. He has a strong upper body and THICK legs, his waist is TINY and his upper body overpowers his bottom, he even has the long face and black slicked back hair. He looks like a Buzz Light year statue:

Buzz-Lightyear

The best part of Buzz is his disk man, yes people his DISK man. Buzz lightyear does not have an iPod, nor does he watch the TV at the gym. He blows my mind! Sadly I have not seen him in a while, and I have to admit I miss him. I miss the little smile I get and the giggle that runs through me every time I see him.

Come back Buzz…we won’t make fun of you anymore…or will we.

This is most likely one of the funniest, most ridiculous video I have seen in a long time. Something like this could have only come out of Mobile Alabama.

Enjoy!

We love the power of music!

So this morning I was walking to Lauren’s office (my boss). We are going to see Jersey Boys tonight, so I was going to start her day off with an insipiring version of “Who Loves You” courtsey of yours truley.

She was watching a video that looked to be one of those tear jerkers, I hate those (slash love them). So I walked away, I didn’t need to cry in the am. She IMed me the link, and told me not to worry, no tears. So I watched it, and this is what I got:

This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley’s base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz’s added some metal percussion to it.

And from there, it just gets rock ‘n’ rolling bananas: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones.

What a great way to start your Hump Day!

We have become obsessed with HP

April 22, 2009 by Gillian

Circa Summer 2007 I decided that I wanted to join civilization and read Harry Potter. I opened the first book kicking and screaming. I wasn’t that into it, well that’s a lie, I was TOTALLY into it but I didn’t want to admit it. About 6 months ago I finished the series. Then I went and watched all the movies, and now I have been accepted into the elite group of freaks who go on opening night to the movies when they come out. I have been scouring the Internet looking for the latest HP and the HBP trailers — oh yeah I have created abbreviations for all of them, HP and the COS, HP and the SS, HP and the GOF, you get it. So anywhoo faithful readers, here is a sneak peak of the movie…OH IT LOOKS SO GOOD (God I’m such a nerd). Watch it in HD (God, Im a bigger nerd).

And another one just in case you didn’t get enough the first time:

You know where I will be July 7th!

We See a Terrible Accient

April 21, 2009 by Gillian

Hello Readers,

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’ve become a pretty simple person. I mean I did grow up in NYC and loved it, but nothing SUPER fancy happened in my life. Recently having moved to Brooklyn I have found myself having a much better time at home doing “homey” things. Saturday usually consists of me going to the gym, going to the green market/Trader Joe’s and grabbing some jars and canning some sauces. Or doing some crafts or something cute like  that. I know its LAME but I enjoy it.

Now a couple of weekends ago I was buying some Jars at Winn Discount (amazing store that has EVERYTHING) since I was going to make some sauce for a sick friend. I was leaving the store around 1:30 on Saturday and heard a band so loud that I actually ducked.

Sadly a car had gotten into an accident and flipped over on court street. For those of you that don’t know, Court street is one of the 2 main drags in Carroll Gardens, an accident on there is like an accident on 5th ave. This car FLIPPED OVER like something you saw on the highway:

accientThe entire community came running to help. People surrounded the street and wanted to do something, but honestly what do you do when you see a car like that. Finally the EMS came and the Fire Dept. I left before they got the people out cause the jaws of life were taken out, and I thought to myself “Are you prepared to see blood right now?” and when I wasn’t I left.

It just makes you think how awful it would be…How awful!
