However, every morning when I’m walking to my stop I look left to see if it’s coming, 85% of the time it is. This means we begin the mad dash for the station. Now granted, I’m lucky the station is only a block from me, but one entrance is closed till Fall 2010 (which by the feel of it won’t be that far from now). The problem is that there aren’t your usual turnstiles, there is no swipe and go for 4 at a time, we have those damned revolving bullshits!!

People are so apprehensive about the revolving doors. They sit and wait till someone is all the way through to swipe all I want is for you to swipe and go!!! It’s not that hard!

So this morning is just one of those mornings. I was suppose to go to the gym, my alarm didn’t go off. Had an outfit picked out, it’s raining. Wanted to shave tomorrow, but will be at the gym, so I did this am (you don’t want to be THAT girl in a public shower). So in essence I’m running late. I get to the bottom of my block and the train is coming. SHIT! I make a mad dash for it, in the rain, and wind and foot traffic. My umbrella goes inside out and there is a class of 1st graders counting off in front of the entrance. I bob and weave my way around the guy wil no leg, the metro paper hander outer and the old lady. Get to the turnstiles and see an MTA worker fixing one of the 2. Meanwhile I see the train pull in, I’m screaming in my head “COME ON!!!!!” ‘lo and behold there is an apprehensive swiper in front of me, who also happens to be an old lady. She basically waits till the woman in front of her is in the train before swiping her metro card. I waste no time- I swipe and thow myself in the closing doors. Yes kids, I was that person today with her right arm, leg an head in the train and her tush and the reminder of her body is on the platform.

In those situations there is really nothing you can do but hang half bodied lifelessly while everyone in the train stares you down, I wave and smile politely.Thankfully the conductor let me on. Thank you kind sir, I bow down to you and your train god.

Sadly, even after all that effort I continue to be “held by the trains dispatcher” at 2nd ave. All that for nothing! At least I can say I tried.

I started GillyRants becuase I always have a story to tell about my commute or someone else has experienced some crazy occurance on the train and I want to tell it. Think about all the stuff going on while we travel through these tunnels underground; conversations, muggings, fights, break ups, lost tourists, love stories.

I’ve decided this is my new direction. I have inspiration again, and the cherry on the cake, I will write this blog while on the train. Apple has created an app that let’s me blog whereever I am, this will ad to the excitement! So I leave you brave underground travelers as I pull into East Broadway on the F, until next time, safe journey.

Twitter is like a mass text message you can send out to your followers. It is similar to facebook in the way that these updates are like status’. It is not similar to facebook because you can be friends with celebrities. For example, I’m following Larry King, and Rainn Wilson,  Jarad is following Kevin Spacey and Dane Cook, and who’s NOT following Ashton and Demi (well I’m not actually, but a lot of people do!).

Anywhoo, when I update twitter I usually call my followers “Twitter Kids”. I thought it was a cute endearing way to say “hello” to my plethora of followers! Unfortunately, I was reading Come to Find Out (John’s blog) and was totally flabbergasted. He calls all of us “INTER kids”! 

I have stolen someones mass name! I am ashamed and saddened by my most recent discovery. How dare I do that to a fellow blogger and trusted friend. I approached John about it, and he said it was okay, I can use it! In fact he thinks he stole it from someone– the circle continues…

So anyway, every Tuesday Julia and I go to spin class with Courtney (who is taking the summer off  BTW, sucks!). The past two weeks there has been a man on the tread mill who I can’t take my eyes off of.  Not cause hes hot, I have never seen his face, but because he wears really tight spandex pants with a running top. You know the ones that are like beaters but lighter.

So basically this is his uniform, buzz is fearless in his under armour of armor. His stature helps too. Hes about 6’5″ and built, but not Guido built. He has a strong upper body and THICK legs, his waist is TINY and his upper body overpowers his bottom, he even has the long face and black slicked back hair. He looks like a Buzz Light year statue:

The best part of Buzz is his disk man, yes people his DISK man. Buzz lightyear does not have an iPod, nor does he watch the TV at the gym. He blows my mind! Sadly I have not seen him in a while, and I have to admit I miss him. I miss the little smile I get and the giggle that runs through me every time I see him.

Come back Buzz…we won’t make fun of you anymore…or will we.

She was watching a video that looked to be one of those tear jerkers, I hate those (slash love them). So I walked away, I didn’t need to cry in the am. She IMed me the link, and told me not to worry, no tears. So I watched it, and this is what I got:

This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley’s base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz’s added some metal percussion to it.

And from there, it just gets rock ‘n’ rolling bananas: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones.

What a great way to start your Hump Day!
